Review: Popcorn Hour A-110

Here’s my review of a nice little box i picked up, called the Popcorn Hour A-110.

First of all, What is a “Popcorn Hour”?

The PCH A-110 is a so-called Networked Media Tank, or NMT.
It’s a small 300 MHz Linux-based computer equipped with a Sigma SMP8635 chipset, 256MB of DDR SDRAM and 32MB of Flash memory.

Popcorn Hour A-110

The PCH A-110 enables you to play movies and music, and also watch pictures stored on any disk or machine in your local network on your TV or HiFi system. The box support a long list of media types, both audio files and video files (up to 1080p). Check the official PCH site for a full list of supported formats and specs.

Great Stand-Up!

Since I wrote a recommendation of good TV-shows, I thought I’d recommend a couple of great stand-up artist also.

I tend to get hang-ups on certain things, like hobbies, TV-shows, movies of a certain type etc. Right now I have a hang-up on stand-up (again) and especially the four guys I’m mentioning here.

Great TV!

I was talking to a friend the other day, and we discussed good TV-shows (among other things). One thing I found strange were that he only mentioned “normal” shows – shows that’s currently running here in Norway, like CSI, House, Friends, Scrubs etc.
Whenever I mentioned a great show, he hadn’t heard about it, since they weren’t aired on any of the channels he’s got access to.
I guess this is a normal “problem” for us Norwegians – we only get to watch the mainstream shows from abroad, which sucks, since there’s so many great ones out there.

So… I thought I’d list some excellent shows here, in case someone need some suggestions when they’re tired of the sixteenth re-run of Friends or something.

Love & Recommendations…

Last weekend I went to a local annual juggling festival to hook up with a couple of old friends. At this festival, I had the pleasure of watching a contemporary performance show by a great finnish artist named Samuli Männistö.

The show was great, and included juggling with balls and clubs, balancing on a ladder and several other acts.
The thing that cought my attention the most were the music Samuli used during a slideshow of vintage porn.

Love #3

I just have to share this with you. If you’re into design, like me, and especially typography, like me, I’d like to take you to a nice little site called LBOI – Little Box Of Ideas. It’s a design blog I visit from time to time.

I just spent some time catching up on some posts there, and came over this brilliant article/showcase featuring 54 (in my opinion) EXCELLENT examples of “Wordplay Logos” – you know, logos where the name/word illustrate itself.
